HutsGo

About the data

In the mountains, wrong information is a safety problem. So we show exactly what we checked and how far we got.

Three marks

Confirmed on the official site
Checked on the hut's own website or by phone. The hut page also states the date in words.
Secondary source
Taken from a reliable non-official source such as a climbing magazine or an alpine organisation. It turns blue once we confirm it officially.
Not confirmed
Something we have not checked yet. We label it rather than guessing.

Elevation and the profile

Hut elevations are the figures published by each hut. For valley lodges with no published figure we read the national topographic map and say so. On the ridge the map reading is too imprecise, so huts without an official figure stay marked Not confirmed and sit at a provisional position on the profile, drawn as a dashed circle.

The horizontal axis is cumulative standard walking time, not distance. The ridge line joins the recorded points in straight segments and does not show the real relief. Elevations of points passed come from the national topographic map and from hut websites.

What we do not publish

We do not copy text from hiking-record services or personal blogs. Reports here are either submitted directly to this site or written by us after staying.

About booking

Book with each hut directly. HutsGo is not an agent and takes no commission. We count clicks on the official links only, to learn which information actually helps.

What is covered now

21 huts in the Northern Japan Alps for the 2026 season, from the Omote-Ginza and Jonen ridges across to Yari and Hotaka. Once the checking routine is solid here, we will widen it.

For visitors from abroad

This English edition is generated from the same data as the Japanese one. Hut names keep their Japanese spelling so you can show them to staff, a bus driver or a taxi.

If you spot a mistake

Wrong dates or prices, or a hut that has closed: please tell us, with the official URL if you have it. A contact address is coming shortly.
